From the Squalor of a Borrowed Stable

From the squalor of a borrowed stable,
by the Spirit and a virgin's faith;
to the anguish and the shame of scandal
came the Savior of the human race!
But the skies were filled with the praise of heaven,
shephards listen as the angels tell
of the Gift of God come down to man
at the dawning of Emmanuel.

King of heaven, now the friend of sinners,
humble servant in the Father's hands,
filled with power and the Holy Spirit,
filled with mercy for the broken man.
Yes.  He walked my road and He felt my pain,
joys and sorrows that I know so well;
yet His righteous steps give me hope again -
I will follow my Emmanuel!

Through the kisses of a friends betrayal,
He was lifted on a cruel cross;
He was punished for the world's transgressions,
as He suffered to save the lost.
He fought for breath, He fought for me,
loosing sinners from the claims of hell;
as He rose from death, are souls are freed!
Death defeated by Emmanuel.

Now He's standing in the place of honor,
crowned with glory on the highest throne,
interceding for His own beloved
till His Father calls to bring them home!
Then the skies will part as the trumpet sounds
hope of heaven or the fear of hell;
but the bride will run to her Lover's arms,
giving glory to Emmanuel!

These are not my words.  This is the words of a song we recently sang at the church I attend.

Is your hope in Christ?  Do you have the hope of heaven?  If not, then on judgement day when you stand before our Holy God you will receive His wrath.

Matthew 7:15-23

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. 18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Will God know you on judgement day as a child of His?

Back to the song I posted, it is a beautiful song that I have not heard until sang in the congregation at church.  I encourage you to read the words and think about what they mean.  Do you believe the words of the song to be truth?

During the Christmas season, why do you celebrate Christmas?  Is it to rejoice in the birth of Christ our Savior, or is it just another holiday to eat good food and get presents?

In the Miller household, we do our best to teach our children the true meaning of Christmas.  We don't want them to anxiously await Christmas because of some present they might think their getting.......we want them to understand it's a holiday we celebrate because it's about Jesus' birth and what He did for us on the cross.  We want them to be joyful even if they never received another gift........because receiving presents is not why we anxiously await to celebrate Christmas!

Now, I'm not saying that we don't give our kids presents, because we do.........hopefully I'm not being to confusing in this blog post.  Sometimes my mind runs and I can't even keep up with it!  Oh, and one more thing, Chris and I have already received the most perfect gift this year that we could have possibly ever asked for.......we are expecting our third child!

Merry Christmas everyone, I hope the Lord blesses you with good health and an amazing Christmas!

Dinner!?!

So I realize it's been an insanely long time since I've posted..... :-(  Sorry!  Anyway, this afternoon as the kids sleep I was thumbing through the internet trying to figure out what to make for dinner.  I thought, why not make a post so you can decide for me!  If you don't know me well, I'm incredibly indecisive!

Well, here are a few of the options I'm considering:

A)  Chicken Spagetti
B)  Mexican Salad
C)  Something with leftover turkey that's in the freezer from Thanksgiving.......any ideas?
D)  Some sort of casserole made with ground beef.......any ideas?

Please respond and let me know what you think!  Oh how I wish I was better at making decisions........
